Life Enrichment
Our Mission Statement highlights "life enrichment" as one of the important components in improving the quality of peoples' lives. At GIENC® people have several opportunities for life enrichment.
The first is the James A. Cole Memorial Garden located adjacent to the GCF Center in Durham. The Memorial Garden features a beautiful sculpture by Durham Artist Andrew Priess, beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs and a pond stocked with a variety of fish. Currently the Memorial Garden is used in the activities of the GCF Nature Center Program, but future plans have the garden open for public use, such as visits from school groups.
The GCF Nature Program provides life enrichment activities to adults with developmental disabilities. Utilizing a state-of-the-art greenhouse, vegetable and flower gardens, the participants have a wide variety of experiences during their time in the program. Click here for additional details.
