How we used our resources in 2008
Employment - GIENC® provided employment opportunities to 500 people through its 29 GCF Donation Centers & Stores serving 16 counties located throughout eastern North Carolina in 2008. Persons served through employment earned an average hourly wage and benefit of $18.43.
Education - GIENC® provided education and training through GCF Learn Free -- internet classes in entry level computer program skills, provided in English and Spanish, which served over 271,000 students from 311 communities in eastern North Carolina, as well as other communities in the remainder of the United States and globally from its Hargett Street facility. GIENC® provided opportunities for 55 high school students with disabilities to earn hours that may be applied towards state requirements for a high school diploma through its HOURS Program at its Chin Page Road facility.
Life Enrichment - GIENC® provided an environment for 35 adults with severe disabilities to engage in horticultural based life enrichment activities in its Nature Center Program.
